Representative Folk Dance Ensemble -Mezdra was founded in 1947. Chief art leader and choreographer is Miroslav Asparuhov. In the remote 1947 in the Community centre 'Prosveta', which kept Bulgarian national spirit in Mezdra Municipality, came up the idea of a Folk ensemble in our town. So the first steps were taken…

But its real creative existence starts in 1974 under the guidance of Pantaley Tomov.

People of different age, jobs and interests take part in the ensemble in order to keep Bulgarian folklore and traditions. Artistic choreography, beautiful costumes, hard work and professionalism- this is the face of Folk Dance Group-Mezdra.

The Folk Group's repertoire includes dances from all Bulgarian ethnographical areas, as well as dance productions of some of the greatest Bulgarian choreographers- prof. Kiril Djenev, prof. Daniela Djeneva, Ivan Todorov, Todor Bekirski, etc.

The Folk Dance Group has won many awards and diplomas from Folklore Festivals in the country and abroad.

The Group consists of 16 men, 16 women, an orchestra and a choir.
